Evaluation of Guiding Principles and Resources on delegated healthcare

Skills for Care, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and partners have issued voluntary guiding principles and supporting resources to support person-centred, safe and effective delegation of healthcare activities. To help gather feedback to make improvements and inform next steps, providers are invited to complete a survey on the guiding principles and resources. This is being run on behalf of Skills for Care by an independent research company called York Consulting, is open until January 2024. 
 

New toolkit will support the implementation of the Diabetes Record Information Standard

The Professional Records Standards Body has launched a beta version of a toolkit to help ensure that health and care professionals have all the information they need about a person with diabetes. PRSB are piloting and testing the standard and would welcome feedback. The materials from the pilots will be added on completion in April.


HSE publishes annual work-related ill health and injury statistics for 2022/23

The Health and Safety Executive’s annual statistics reveal that 1.8 million workers reported they were suffering from work-related ill health in 2022/23, with about half of cases down to stress, depression or anxiety (higher than the pre-pandemic level). An estimated 35.2 million working days were lost due to self-reported work-related ill health or injury. There were 60,645 non-fatal work-related injuries to employees reported by employers under RIDDOR, of which 32% were slips, trips or falls on same level and 17%, handling, lifting or carrying injuries. HSE launches online learning tool helps businesses address work-related stress

HSE has also launched a new, free online learning tool businesses can sign up to, designed by the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Working Minds campaign, to understand what they need to do to comply with the law and understand how to include stress in their workplace risk assessments.
 

Touring NHS ‘cancer bus’ aims to raise awareness of signs and symptoms

An NHS double-decker bus is touring parts of England to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer and urge people to visit their GP for checks if they notice something unusual. Local NHS staff, charity workers and cancer survivors will be on board to share their expertise, provide expert advice to passers-by and help answer questions, and get people directed to the right place for support.


Funding for Integrated Care Systems to support disabled people in work

£64 million of funding is being made available to Integrated Care Systems to participate in the 'WorkWell' pilot improve the support available to help disabled people and people with long term health conditions to start, stay and succeed in work.
 

Your posture matters - A strategic approach to taking care of it together

NHS Education for Scotland has published a guide, Your posture matters - A strategic approach to taking care of it together, and a learning framework, which focus on the benefits that can be experienced when 24/7 postural management is in place and sets out the knowledge, skills and competences required by carers as well as health and social care practitioners to deliver it. The strategy states that postural management should be a basic component of rehabilitation for people with more complex needs.
