A new report from Healthwatch has shared the experiences of over 65,000 people who drew on health and care services between October 2022 - September 2023.

The report covers a range of topics, from social care and hospital discharge to cancer care and mental health support.

Below are a few of the recommendations made in the report, including: 

  • Renewed focus on implementing previously announced reforms to cap the amount people have to spend on social care costs over their lifetime.
  • Further reforms to boost investment in services, address workforce challenges, and support councils to provide more proactive social care information and advice services. These should cover both pre- and post-assessment.
  • The involvement of patients in designing new techn0ologiecal solutions for social care.
